Jio is a mobile network operator in India, and one of the networks a travel eSIM may reach through roaming. From the information we track, it runs 4G.

The plans on our shelf that name Jio

From the supplier record behind each package, 33 of the 48 plans we currently sell for India declare Jio as a network the profile can reach, at 4G. The figure comes from the same catalogue that prices the plan pages, not from marketing copy, and it moves when the supplier revises the record.

A plan naming Jio means the network sits in the list the profile may choose from. It does not mean your handset will stay on it. The priority order remains the supplier's, and the signal where you stand still decides.

Why plans do not name a fixed network

Nearly every travel eSIM is a roaming product. The supplier holds agreements with one or more networks in the destination, and your profile picks between them by a priority order set inside the profile, not by the buyer. Two travellers on the same plan can end up on different networks in the same city.

The other networks in India

Alongside Jio, the market also has Airtel, any of which your plan may use depending on the supplier.

  • If signal is weak in one spot, try manually selecting another network your plan supports
  • This market has 5G in parts of it, mostly in larger cities
  • Leave data roaming on for the eSIM profile: roaming is how the travel plan works, not an extra charge

Will my eSIM definitely connect to Jio?+

33 of our plans name Jio as reachable, but that is not a guarantee. Not necessarily. Travel plans run over roaming agreements, so the network depends on the supplier behind the plan, your device and where you are. Jio is one of the networks operating in India, not a guarantee attached to any particular plan.

How do I see which network I am on?+

Check the carrier name at the top of the screen, or open the mobile-network settings and look at the operator list. If signal is poor, try selecting a network manually instead of automatic — but only one your plan actually supports.

Does Jio run 5G, and will my plan get it?+

From the operator information we track, Jio runs 4G. Getting 5G in practice needs three things at once: the plan permits it, your device supports it, and the area has coverage. Miss any one and you fall back to 4G.
