Zimbabwe involves longer distances between highlights than most people expect: Harare to Victoria Falls is either a flight or a full day of driving, so maps and being reachable en route matter a great deal. Money is the second reason to stay connected. US dollars circulate alongside the local currency, prices are quoted in both, and a large share of everyday payment moves by mobile money, which is confirmed on the handset rather than over a counter.
This page carries 11 eSIM plans for Zimbabwe, riding on Econet / NetOne with 3G / 4G / 5G support. Install the profile at home before you fly; the plan starts counting when the phone first registers on a network at the destination.

Estimate roughly 800MB–1.5GB a day for maps, messaging and payment confirmations. If you upload safari photos each evening or video-call home from the lodge, budget nearer 2GB a day.
The main gateways are Robert Gabriel Mugabe International in Harare (HRE) and Victoria Falls (VFA), which takes regional flights directly; Bulawayo uses Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo (BUQ). Overland, the key posts are Beitbridge on the South African border, the Victoria Falls bridge and Chirundu into Zambia, and Kazungula towards Botswana. Have the line working before you reach the post, since visa formalities on arrival can take a while.
Coverage is dense in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and Victoria Falls town. It thins markedly in Hwange and Mana Pools, where many camps have connectivity only around the main building, in the Eastern Highlands near Chimanimani, around Lake Kariba, and along the long road between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls that runs through country with almost no settlement.

It varies by camp. Many properties in Hwange and Mana Pools have service only around the main building or at a particular high point, and nothing at the tents. Plan the park days as offline days: tell people at home how long you will be out of contact, download your onward tickets and route maps to the device, and deal with messages in one go when you are back in a town.
No. A plan tied to Zimbabwe only works inside Zimbabwe; once you walk over the bridge to the Livingstone side the phone will be looking for Zambian networks instead. If you expect to cross often, pick a regional plan that lists both countries, or plan to rely on Wi-Fi at whichever side you sleep on and download the maps for both sides before you start walking.
Carry US dollars in small denominations, since hotels, tour operators and many shops take cash in that currency, and be aware that locals themselves lean heavily on mobile money for daily spending. ATMs and card payments exist in the larger cities but should not be your only plan. The safest approach is to bring enough small notes, budget your costs before you travel, and keep tour receipts saved on your phone in case a booking needs re-confirming.
Most plans here start when the phone first connects to a network at the destination, so you can install in advance at home and switch it on after landing. Each plan page states its own rule.
No. The eSIM is a second line, so you keep your home number for SMS OTP. Turn off roaming data on the home line and set the eSIM as the data line.
