The cheapest eSIM: how to find it honestly

The cheapest eSIM sounds simple but is harder to answer than it looks, because the plan with the lowest number is not always the cheapest for your use. This page explains how to compare honestly. It states no fixed prices: the list below is generated from the live catalogue and sorted by price, so read real numbers on each plan page.

Price per GB, price per day, and total

Three numbers answer three different questions. Price per GB is useful when you know roughly how much data you will use. Price per day suits a fixed-length trip with light use. Total price is what actually leaves your wallet and usually matters most, because a plan that is cheap per GB but larger than you need can cost more than a smaller one that fits.

Validity changes what cheap really means

A low-priced plan with short validity can run out before the trip ends, forcing a second purchase. Check when the validity starts counting, for example from installation or from the first connection at the destination. You can read this in the plan notes, and it differs between plans and suppliers.

What cheap plans often hide

• Speed caps: some plans slow down after a certain amount of data, or are capped throughout.
• Hotspot sharing: some plans do not allow it. If you need to share to a laptop or a friend, read the notes.
• Limited coverage: fewer countries than you expected, or some in-country networks may not be usable.
• No top-up: if it runs out you must buy again, which can cost more than a bigger plan would have.

A step-by-step way to compare

1. 1Estime os dados que precisaThink about how much you use maps, chat, video or hotspot, and use the data calculator to estimate.
2. 2Fix the number of daysCount the real days at the destination, including travel days.
3. 3Compare total pricePick plans that fit your data and days, then compare total prices on the live plan pages.
4. 4Read the notesCheck speed, hotspot and validity counting before you decide.

Buying too big or too small

Buying too small means topping up mid-trip and wasting time, while buying too big means paying more than you need. When unsure, estimate from your own real usage rather than averages, and leave a small margin for the heavier days.
