The numbers here are meant for budgeting and rough price comparisons on the road, not the exact rate you will get when exchanging cash or swiping a card.

Where the rate comes from
The numbers come from a public feed that refreshes roughly twice a day, covering around 160 currencies. It is meant for a rough sense of what something abroad costs in THB while planning a trip — it is a completely separate system from the one that prices this site's own eSIM checkout, which has its own live rate.
Banks, card issuers, and exchange counters each add their own spread and fees on top, so the actual number you get will always differ from this reference rate.

No. This is an interbank-style reference rate. Banks, card issuers, and retail exchange counters each add their own spread and fees on top, so the real rate you get is always less favourable than the number shown here.
Why doesn't the HKD or VND rate here match what a money-changer quotes me?+
Because a money-changer sets its own buy/sell spread, which is always wider than a reference rate so it can turn a profit. For a less-traded currency like the Vietnamese dong, that spread is usually wider than for a major currency like USD or EUR.
If I pay for an eSIM plan with my card, does checkout use this tool's rate?+
No. This tool is completely separate from the site's payment system. Checkout prices are worked out from this site's own live payment rate; the numbers here are only for budgeting.
