How much data you actually need
About 1–1.5GB a day for maps, ride-hailing and messaging your accommodation. If you shoot video and upload it each night, or go live from the street food stalls, budget nearer 2GB a day.
When you land
The main gateways are Noi Bai (HAN), Tan Son Nhat (SGN), Da Nang (DAD) and Cam Ranh (CXR) for Nha Trang. Switch the eSIM on when you land so you can order a car and pull up your hotel address in Vietnamese to show the driver before you leave the terminal.
Where coverage changes
Cities and the coastal strip are well covered, with Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City usable throughout. The northern mountains — Sa Pa, Ha Giang and the motorbike loops around them — drop out for long stretches, as does the middle of Ha Long Bay once the boat is well away from shore.

Do I need separate plans for a multi-city Vietnam trip?+
No — one Vietnam plan works nationwide, covering Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City alike.
