Choosing a plan, data size, and when to buy.

This section answers questions about the steps before and during placing an order directly — from choosing a plan that matches your trip, through reading the detail stated on a plan's own page, to the checkout steps and what you receive afterwards. What is written here is kept separate from installing and actually using a profile on a device, which live in other categories.

If you have already bought and are looking for order status or a receipt, the orders category answers that more directly. If you are looking for installation steps, the installation category does too. This page suits the period before deciding to buy and during checkout itself.

Choosing a plan that matches your trip

The best starting point is choosing by the country or region you are visiting first, since each plan covers a different area — some cover a single country, others cover a whole region for one price. From there, consider how long you will actually be there and the data volume you expect to use each day.

If you are unsure how much data you will use per day, think about your actual habits — how often you open navigation maps, whether you post photos or video during the day — since different activities use different amounts of data. Our data calculator tool can help estimate a rough figure from the habits you describe.

What pricing is based on

The price of each plan is shown clearly on that plan's own page, and varies with area covered, data volume and the validity period stated. We do not set a fixed number here on this page, since price is tied to each individual plan and can be adjusted from time to time by the underlying network provider.

What is worth doing before buying is comparing the options shown for the same country or region, to see whether the data volume and validity period given actually suit your real usage, rather than looking only at the final price figure on its own.

Single-country plans versus regional plans

AspectBest suited toWhat to watch for
Single-country planA trip spent entirely within one countryIf you pass through another country en route, there may be no coverage outside the one stated
Regional planA trip crossing several countries within the same regionPrice is often higher per gigabyte than a single-country plan — check it genuinely suits the number of countries you will actually visit

Checkout steps

  1. 1Select the planChoose the plan that matches the country, validity period and data volume you want.
  2. 2Enter your emailUse an address you can genuinely access, since the QR code and receipt will be sent there.
  3. 3Choose a payment methodPick from the methods the system supports, as shown on the checkout page at the time.
  4. 4Confirm the orderDouble-check the plan details and email once more before confirming, since amending the email after payment is harder to do.
  5. 5Wait for the emailThe confirmation email with the QR code usually arrives within a few minutes; check the spam folder first if it does not appear.
Entering the wrong email address is the most common reason a QR code never arrives. Always check the spelling of the address before confirming an order.

Buying for someone else or well in advance

Buying a plan for someone else is done by entering the intended user's own email address at checkout, since the QR code goes directly to whichever address is entered, not necessarily the payer's own. If you want to keep a copy yourself as well, check whether the checkout page offers a secondary email field at the time.

Buying weeks ahead of a trip is entirely normal, since what you receive is a profile that has not yet been installed. Validity for most plans starts counting from actual activation, not from the order date — check that specific plan's page for the exact terms.

What you receive after a successful payment

  • An order confirmation email with a receipt
  • A QR code or link for installing the profile
  • Plan details such as data volume and the validity period
  • Basic guidance for the next installation step
If you have an account, the order also appears on your account's orders page, letting you reopen the QR code later without relying on email alone.

Can you cancel before using it?

Cancellation and refunds depend on whether the profile has already been activated. If it has never been activated at all, the chance of a refund is generally higher than in a case where it has already been partly used. Full terms and the refund process are covered specifically in the refunds category.

A profile that has been activated and has already begun using data usually cannot be refunded for the remaining allowance. Make sure you genuinely still want that plan before activating it.

How many plans can I buy in one order?+

Generally more than one plan can be bought in a single order, but each plan's QR code is separate — check the confirmation email to make sure you received all of them.

Can I pay in a currency other than Thai baht?+

The methods and currencies supported are shown on the checkout page at the time you pay — go by what the system actually shows during your own transaction.

Can a wrong plan be changed after payment?+

Changing an already-selected plan directly is usually not possible. The most straightforward route is to contact the team to ask about the possibilities in your specific case.

Can the receipt be used to claim expenses through a company?+

The order confirmation email already serves as a basic receipt. If a specific additional format is needed, contact the team to ask whether that can be arranged.

How many days before travel should I buy?+

There is no fixed rule, since validity for most plans starts from actual activation, not the purchase date. Buying a few days ahead simply gives unhurried time to install before travel day.

Can a plan already bought be transferred for a friend to use instead?+

If it has never been activated, passing the QR code on for someone else to install works normally. But once it has been activated on one device, it cannot then be moved to another.

Checking your device before deciding to buy

eSIM support depends on the exact model and the operating system version actually running, not on a manufacturer's whole line-up at once — some models within the same series support it and others do not, depending on the market they were sold in. If you are unsure, check your device's own settings menu or use our device-checker tool before choosing a plan.

If a device was locked to one network at the time of purchase, such as through a contract bundle from an existing carrier, that lock may or may not affect activating a foreign profile, depending entirely on that seller's own terms. If unsure, ask the device's seller or existing carrier before buying a plan, rather than discovering the problem only after arriving at the destination.

Reading a plan's page fully before buying

Each plan's own page states the area covered, the data volume, the validity period, and whether the plan is data-only or also includes calls and messaging. These details differ from one plan to the next, and reading all of them before buying reduces the chance of ending up with a plan that does not actually match what is needed on the trip.

Another thing worth reading is whether that particular plan supports a top-up mid-trip. If you expect you might need more data along the way, choosing a plan that states top-up support from the outset avoids having to buy an entirely new plan later unnecessarily. The steps for topping up are covered specifically in the top-up category.

What to read on the plan pageWhy it matters
Area coveredDiffers between single-country and regional plans; check it matches the trip's actual route
Data volume and plan typeStates whether it is data-only or also includes calls and messaging, which affects real usage on the trip
Validity periodSets how many days the profile is usable from the day it is actually activated, not the order date
Whether top-up is supportedMatters if you expect to need more data mid-trip without buying an entirely new plan

What to read on a plan's page before buying

Buying several plans for a trip through more than one country

If your trip runs through several countries that no single regional plan covers all at once, the option is to buy separate single-country plans for each destination, installing them as multiple profiles on the same device and switching to whichever one matches the country you are currently in.

Before buying several plans this way, check how many profiles your device can hold installed at once, since that limit is set by the device and its operating system, not by whoever issues the plan. If the device only allows a limited number, you may need to plan on deleting a finished profile before installing the next one along the route.

Use the device-checker tool or the device's own settings menu to see the profile limit before buying several plans at once, so the order of installing and deleting profiles can be planned ahead of time.

Buying on a phone versus a computer

The checkout process works the same way through a browser whether opened on a phone, a tablet, or a computer — there is no difference in price or in what you receive between the two. What differs is the convenience of the next installation step: buying from a computer makes it easier to open the QR email there and scan it with the phone's camera, rather than opening the email and scanning it on the same device.

Whichever device you buy from, do it over a stable internet connection, since the payment step can be interrupted if the signal drops partway through, leaving it unclear whether the transaction actually went through. Where possible, avoid completing this particular step over unstable public Wi-Fi.

Buying while signed in versus buying without an account

A plan can be bought either way — signed in to an account beforehand, or simply entering an email directly at checkout without signing in at all. Both routes receive the same QR code and receipt by email; the only difference is whether the order is then attached to an account for easy later access or not.

If a plan was bought without an account and you later want that order attached to an account created afterwards, contact the team with the order number and the email used at the time of purchase, since the system cannot automatically link a past order to a new account — it always needs identity confirmed through the team first.

When you are not sure which plan to choose

If comparing plan pages and trying the data calculator still leaves you unsure, message us on LINE at https://lin.ee/skDPoNx or by email at esimonline.asia@gmail.com with the destination and roughly how many days the trip covers. The team can point to whichever options are actually live in the catalogue at that time and fit more closely with what is needed.

Any suggestion from the team reflects whichever plans are genuinely on sale on the day you ask. If you end up buying several weeks later, check the plan page again before confirming, in case its details have since been updated.

Asking ahead like this is most useful when planning a more complex trip, such as passing through several countries in quick succession, or when unsure whether to pick one regional plan or buy separately country by country, since the team can see the whole set of plans available at that moment, which helps decide faster than comparing every page alone.

Common questions in this section

How much data should I buy?+

Rough per-day figures: maps, chat and email around 300–500MB; add social and photos for roughly 800MB–1.5GB; regular video or video calls 2GB or more. Multiply by your days, then add 20–30% if you will share a hotspot.

When should I buy my eSIM?+

One to three days before departure works well: you keep time to solve any install problem, and a first-connection plan still does not start counting until you arrive.

Can I buy in bulk for a company or tour group?+

Yes. Contact us with quantity, destinations and travel dates. We can deliver QR codes as a batch with a distribution sheet and issue the receipt or tax document your organisation needs.

Can I buy an eSIM for someone else?+

Yes. The thing to watch is that the profile binds to the first device that installs it, so let the actual traveller scan the QR themselves rather than testing it on your own phone, and confirm their device supports eSIM before you buy.

Can one plan cover several countries?+

Regional and global plans cover several countries, but not necessarily every country in the region. Read the country list on the plan page against your route one country at a time, including layover countries if you intend to use data while waiting.

Can I change my plan after buying but before installing?+

There is no swap, but if the profile has never been installed and you are within 14 days of paying, refund the first order yourself from the order page and buy the right plan instead. Once it is installed there is no refund, so deal with it as soon as you realise.

Can I buy several plans at once?+

Yes, and it is common on multi-country trips that no single regional plan covers. Each plan is a separate profile, so you choose which one carries data at any time, and it is worth checking how many profiles your phone model can store.

How do I use a discount code?+

Enter it at checkout before confirming payment; a valid code shows in the total immediately. If the total does not change, the code has expired, has been used, or does not apply to that plan. We cannot apply a discount retrospectively after payment is complete.

Can I buy without creating an account?+

You can buy with just an email address, but an account lets you open your orders, installation details and top-up history at any time, which helps when contacting support or when you cannot find the email abroad. If you buy without one, keep the confirmation email safe.

There is no plan for the country I am visiting+

Check regional or global plans that list that country by name. If none does, we do not currently have coverage, and we will not sell by claiming coverage we cannot confirm.

Will I be charged in the currency shown?+

Prices in other currencies are a display conversion for convenience. The charge is based on the plan's base currency, and your bank may convert again.

Can I buy after I have landed?+

Yes, if you have internet to install with, such as airport Wi-Fi. Buying and installing before you travel is far easier, since it does not depend on Wi-Fi of unknown quality.
