What is in Mandai Wildlife Reserve

Mandai lies in the north of the island next to the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and Upper Seletar Reservoir. Unlike the city sights, this is tropical rainforest turned into five separate wildlife parks, each with its own entrance and ticket.

How to get to Mandai

The other parks in more detail

Singapore Zoo favours open-concept displays, using moats and plants instead of bars in many zones. It has shaded paths and an internal tram, and small children enjoy the close-contact zones. Visit in the morning, when the animals are active and the air is cooler.

River Wonders tells the story of the world's great rivers, including the Mekong, the Ganges and the Amazon, with large freshwater tanks and giant pandas while they are on display, plus indoor sections for shade. Bird Paradise offers shaded walkways, free-flight aviaries and bird shows; it photographs well but deserves at least half a day.

Rainforest Wild ASIA opened in 2025 and tells the story of Asian rainforests, with outdoor play zones and themed animal areas. It suits families who want children to run around, but zones and activities may still be adjusted, so check the latest official page.

Before you leave, open the map in the official Mandai app to see where each park entrance sits. The parks share one reserve, but walking from one to another can be farther than it looks. If you visit several, check whether an internal shuttle runs, and remember that strongly scented food may not be allowed in some zones.

Combining parks in one day

Each park takes half a day to a full day, so do not try to cram all five into one visit. A common approach is the zoo or Bird Paradise from morning to afternoon, a meal break, then Night Safari in the evening.

Night Safari: timing and etiquette

Night Safari opens only in the evening, when nocturnal animals are active. It has a tram ride and walking trails. Arrive before the evening rounds so you have time to enter without rushing.

• Do not use flash photography, as it disturbs the animals; turn off flash and camera sounds beforehand.
• Wear plain colours, light long trousers and insect repellent, since it is a forest setting.
• Follow staff announcements and never feed the animals.

Booking ahead

Buy tickets online from the official site or app ahead of time, especially at weekends and during school holidays. Prices, hours and entry terms are not listed here, so check the official channels. Keep the ticket as a QR code on your phone and charge it fully.
