Advertising and sponsorship policy

No advertising, no sponsors, no commission.

Last updated 2026年9月5日

Advertising and sponsorship policy
  • Every plan on this site is sold by us. There are no partner plans and no affiliate links.
  • We run no advertising and have no sponsors, so there is no sponsored content to label.
  • We do not sell placement in comparison or destination pages. Ordering comes from plan data and our own testing.
  • If this ever changes, this page will be updated with the date of the change.

If this ever changes: the principles that would apply

This page says plainly that right now there is no advertising, no sponsor and no affiliate link. So that this is not just an empty promise, here are the principles we would follow from day one if that ever changed.

Disclosing sponsored content

Any content involving payment or consideration of any kind would carry a label visible before you start reading, not small print you have to scroll to find at the bottom. The wording would say what it actually is — sponsored content — rather than something that could be mistaken for an independent review.

Editorial independence from advertisers

The people who write the guides and test the plans would be a different group from the people who talk business with any provider. A provider would have no right to see or edit an article before it is published, and no right to ask that a downside of their own plan be removed.

How an ad partner would be chosen and vetted

  • It must be a genuinely travel- or communications-related service, not whatever category happens to offer money.
  • It has to pass the same basic fact-checking we apply to our own plans, such as an advertised price actually matching what is sold.
  • Payment can buy placement or a label. It cannot buy a verdict or a score.

What the site will never do

  • Never let payment change a factual claim in a guide or comparison — speed, coverage or price.
  • Never run an ad disguised as an article or a review without a label.
  • Never give an advertiser veto power over a correction or an update to information that turns out wrong.
  • Never sell ranking position in a comparison quietly, without telling the reader.
This page is deliberately written in advance, so the principles are fixed before anyone's money is involved, rather than written afterwards to justify a particular deal.

Why we currently choose to run no advertising at all

Right now, our revenue comes only from the margin on the plans we sell ourselves. There is no other revenue channel sitting between you and the advice you are reading. That means we have no financial reason to favour one network over another, or to make a particular plan look better than it really is, because we earn the same either way, whichever plan on this site you choose.

Having no advertising also makes the comparison pages simpler to write, because no space has to be reserved for whoever paid, and there is no internal conversation about how to rank things so that a particular partner is happy. Every ranking comes from plan data alone.

What happens if you suspect a piece of content is biased

Even though there is currently no advertising to bias anything, if you read an article and it feels unusually tilted toward a particular plan or network, report it the same way you would report an error. The team responsible for the content checks where the information behind that article came from, and if the concern is valid, we correct it and date the change, the same as any other correction.

A concern about bias and a report of a factual error travel through the same channel — see the corrections policy page for how to reach us.

What actually decides the order in a comparison page

We said above that we do not sell placement, but the next question is: if not money, what decides which plan appears first? The honest answer is factors measurable from the plan itself and from our own testing, not a relationship with anyone.

  • Price per gigabyte, compared directly between plans in the same category.
  • Coverage breadth and validity period, exactly as stated on the plan page.
  • Our own team's connection test results, in destinations we are able to test.

What has never been part of that equation is the profit margin on any given plan, which network happens to pay more, or a personal relationship with whoever we talk business with. If two plans come out close on every factor above, we default to showing whichever has broader coverage first, not whichever one we would rather sell.

A hypothetical: if a sponsor offered terms that conflicted with a fact

Imagine a situation that has not actually happened: a network offers to sponsor a comparison article, on condition that a paragraph describing a weakness of its own plan is removed. Our answer would be to decline the whole deal, not to edit the article and then add a sponsorship label afterwards, because agreeing to that trade even once would make every disclosure label we had ever put up before it meaningless.

Questions worth asking before trusting any site's claim of independence

QuestionWhy it matters
Does the site say where its revenue comes from?If it never says, there is no way to know whether the advice is being nudged by something.
Does the ranking in a comparison move depending on who is advertising?A ranking that shifts with money is the clearest sign of a lack of independence.
Where does the sponsored-content label actually sit?A label buried at the bottom of the article is worth about as much as no label at all.

Example wording for the label we would use, if that day comes

So that the word “label” does not stay an abstraction, here is the wording we intend to actually use, placed before the content begins rather than buried mid-paragraph or hidden in a footnote.

Where it sitsExample wording
At the very top of the article, before the first headingThis is sponsored content. The editorial team still makes every decision about what it says.
In a comparison page, on the specific row that is sponsoredThis row is sponsored. Its position has not been changed from what our own testing found.

Why we write this even though there is no advertising yet

Principles written after a deal already exists tend to get quietly shaped around that deal. Writing them down now, while nobody has offered any money, turns this page into a reference point you can check us against later. If advertising does arrive one day and our behaviour does not match what is written here, that mismatch is exactly the signal worth questioning us over, rather than accepting whatever new explanation follows.

Who inside the team decides this

Deciding whether to accept or decline an offer that involves money is not something the sales side gets to settle alone. It always has to go through the team responsible for the content, because the people negotiating the business side see only the numbers of the deal, not how that deal would land against the credibility of everything already published on the site. Giving the content team the right to object from the start is part of the principle written on this page, not a step added afterwards to look good.

This page is reviewed the same way every other page on the site is. If a real change ever happens, the updated date at the top of this page will move, and you can check what we changed and when — not a quiet edit left without a trace.

If you finish reading this page and still have a question that none of the above answers, ask us directly through the contact page. A question about the neutrality of the content is always a fair one to ask, not something you need to feel awkward raising.

Scope of this policy

eSIMonline runs no advertising, no sponsored space, no affiliate-link programme and no referral programme that pays anyone a commission. This policy states that fact plainly, rather than describing rules for labelling advertising, because there is no advertising to label in the first place.

Every plan shown on this site is sold by us directly, through a supplier system we connect to ourselves. No other seller sits between you and us, and no part of this site carries content that someone has paid to appear in or to rank more favourably.

Where our revenue comes from

Our only revenue is the margin between the price we pay a supplier for a data plan and the price we sell it to you for. We do not earn a commission from anywhere for recommending any product, and there is no arrangement that lets an outside party pay for content on this site to lean one way or another.

  • No page on this site carries an affiliate link or a referral link that pays a commission of any kind
  • No referral-tracking cookie exists to calculate a commission owed to anyone
  • No other seller or reseller sells plans on our behalf
  • There is no advertising or sponsored space for sale on this site

The price you see is the price we charge

Because we sell every plan ourselves, the price shown on a plan page is the price we actually charge, not a price marked up to fund a commission paid to a third party, and it is never raised simply because you arrived via a particular link.

Updates to this policy

If this ever changes — for instance, if we start accepting advertising or open any kind of affiliate programme — we will rewrite this policy to match reality and move the updated date at the top of this page accordingly. Until then, what is written here reflects the site's current state.

The updated date at the top of this page moves each time there is a change that actually has an effect, and the policy's wording is rewritten to match reality at that point.

What we turn down, and why

An advertising policy only means something if there are offers we actually turn down. We decline anything that asks us to change the recommendation inside an article, any placement in a ranking that is tied to payment, and any content designed to look like editorial while being an advertisement. If an offer requires us to change the conclusion of a page, we decline it and the conversation ends there.

When we place a link to a supplier, it is there because the page's own reasoning led the reader to that point, not because someone paid for the position. If we change our mind about a supplier, we change the page to match, whatever commercial relationship exists at the time.

  • No paid placement or paid scores in any comparison table
  • No advertising written to look like an editorial article
  • No agreement that stops us writing about a product's weaknesses
If you find an advertisement here that is ambiguous or not clearly labelled, tell us on LINE @esimonline or at esimonline.asia@gmail.com and we will check the placement and fix the labelling.
