Cairns is a mid-sized airport acting as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest to the north. The town itself is only a few minutes away by road, a clear advantage over the big city airports. What people actually come here to do, though, is get on a boat or drive north along the coast, and both take you out of coverage quickly.
