How do I change the APN?

iPhone: Settings > Cellular > select the eSIM line > Cellular Data Network, then fill the APN field. Android: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Access Point Names, then create a new APN with the values from your order. Restart afterwards.
APN stands for Access Point Name, and it tells your phone which data gateway on the network to use to reach the internet. If this value is wrong or missing, the phone can show full signal bars and a successful network connection while nothing actually loads in a browser or app, because signal and data sit at two different layers — signal is attaching to a tower, data is passing traffic through a correctly configured gateway.
This page is written for anyone who has installed an eSIM profile successfully, sees the network name on screen, but cannot get the internet to load. We walk through setting the APN step by step for iPhone and Android separately, explain where the values to enter come from, why some phones need none of this at all, and what to do if it still does not connect after setting it.

Where the APN value comes from
The APN value you need to enter comes from the network provider behind the specific eSIM plan you bought — it is not one universal value that works across every plan, since different plans can sit on different partner networks. This value is shown in your order confirmation email or your order page on our site. Always open that page and use the value for the plan you actually bought, rather than copying a value from a different plan or from a general search online.
iPhone: steps to set the APN
- 1Open Settings > CellularOpen the phone's settings and select the Cellular menu. If the phone has several lines, you will see all of them listed on this page.
- 2Select the eSIM line you just installedTap into the line that matches our eSIM, not your existing home number's line. If you already renamed the line, it will be easier to tell apart.
- 3Open Cellular Data NetworkInside that line's page there is a Cellular Data Network menu. Tap into it and you will see several fields, including one for the APN.
- 4Enter the APN value from your orderType the APN exactly as given in your order email or order page, matching it character for character, without extra spaces or a different letter case from what was provided.
- 5Leave the menu, then restart the phoneiPhone usually saves the value the moment you leave the menu, but restarting helps ensure the phone reconnects fresh using the new setting.
Android: steps to set the APN
- 1Open Settings > Network & internetThis menu's exact name can differ by manufacturer, such as 'Connections' instead of 'Network & internet'. Look for something close if this exact wording is not there.
- 2Select SIMs, then choose our eSIM lineThis menu lists every installed line. Tap into the one matching the eSIM you just bought.
- 3Open Access Point NamesLook for Access Point Names, or the letters APN, within that line's page. Some phones tuck this into an advanced menu.
- 4Create a new APN with the values from your orderTap to add a new APN and fill every field with the values from your order email or order page. Leave any field not specified blank as it is — do not guess a value for it.
- 5Save, then select this new APN as the one in useAfter saving, some phones require going back to actively select this new APN as the one in use — simply creating it is not always enough.
- 6Restart the phoneRestarting helps the phone reconnect for data using the APN you just set.

Some phones need none of this set manually
Many eSIM networks send the APN value along with the profile at installation time, so the phone connects for data immediately without needing anything filled in by hand. Manually setting the APN is only needed for the specific case where the phone connects to the network but the internet does not load. If your profile works fine from the start without touching anything, none of the steps on this page are needed.
Common mistakes when setting the APN
Set everything correctly but the internet still does not work
If every APN field is set correctly and the phone has restarted, but the internet still does not work, go back and check whether data roaming is switched on for that line — it is an entirely separate toggle from the APN setting and just as common a cause. Also check whether the line you set the APN on is the same line set as the 'default line for data'. If those two do not match, the phone may still be using a different line's APN.
If both of those check out and it still does not connect, try toggling airplane mode off and on once to force a full reconnection. If that still does not help, message us with the model and the APN values you entered — we can help verify what the value should be, though we cannot change the settings on your device directly.

The Android APN form has more fields than you need to fill
Most Android APN creation forms carry more than one field — an APN name, MMSC, MCC, MNC, an authentication type, or an APN protocol — which are simply that form's standard fields, not a signal that every one of them must be filled in for it to work. Fill in only the fields whose values are given in our order email or order page, and leave the rest at the form's own default. Do not guess a value for a field you were not told, since entering the wrong value in a field that was not required can stop the connection even when the main APN field itself is correct.
If unsure which fields to leave blank versus fill in, follow the values given in your order email as the primary source. If the email specifies only the APN field and says nothing about the others, that means the other fields are not needed for that plan. Filling those fields with values borrowed from a different plan or network can create a problem instead of fixing one.
Does a cellular tablet use the same APN steps?
The principle for setting an APN on a cellular tablet is very close to a phone: open the cellular or mobile network menu, select the eSIM line, and enter the values from your order. But the menu's location and wording can differ from a phone by the same manufacturer, since some tablet operating systems run a build customised for the larger screen. If the menu is not where you expect, try the search box inside settings and type APN first.
After an OS update, the APN disappears or resets
This check does not take long and is worth doing first before suspecting anything more complicated, since the symptom tends to look the same each time — the network connects normally but the internet or apps do not load, which is the exact same symptom as when the APN had never been set at all. If the check shows the APN field is now empty or has reverted to the device's default, re-enter the values from your order following the same steps described on this page, then restart the phone again.

Comparison table: where iPhone and Android differ
| Point | What applies on that phone |
|---|---|
| Menu location (iPhone) | Cellular > select line > Cellular Data Network |
| Do you need to create a new APN? | No — just fill the field that already exists |
| Do you need to select it as active after entering? | No — it saves as soon as you leave the menu |
| Menu location (Android) | Network & internet > SIMs > Access Point Names |
Setting an APN with an existing number and the new eSIM together — can they mix up?
On a phone running two active lines at once — your existing number plus the new eSIM — each line carries its own entirely separate APN field. Filling in an APN on one line does not affect the other at all, as long as you are working in the correct line's menu. The point people commonly slip up on is that both lines' menus look very similar, making it easy to enter a value on the wrong one by mistake. So it is worth checking the line's name at the top of the menu every time before entering anything, especially if the two lines have not been renamed to look clearly different.
Checklist before contacting us for help
- Open the order email or order page and copy the APN value from there only
- Confirm the values were entered on the new eSIM's line, not the existing number's line
- Restart the phone after entering the values
- Make sure data roaming is switched on for that line
- Check the 'default line for data' matches the line the APN was set on
- If it still does not work, note the model and the values entered before contacting us
Ofte stillede spørgsmål
Where do I find the APN value?+
In your order confirmation email or your order page on our site. Use only the value matching the specific plan you bought — do not copy one from anywhere else.
Why do some phones need no manual APN setting at all?+
Because some networks' eSIM profiles include the APN value at installation already. Manual setting is only needed when the phone connects to the network but the internet does not load.
Does the phone always need restarting after setting the APN?+
It is recommended every time. Even though iPhone saves the value the moment you leave the menu, restarting more reliably forces the phone to reconnect for data using the new value.
I set the APN on the wrong line and now my existing number has no data — how do I fix it?+
Go back to your existing number's line, open its APN menu, and remove the wrongly entered value or reset it back to that operator's original value. If you cannot recall the original value, ask that operator directly.
Everything is set correctly but the internet still does not connect — what next?+
Recheck the data roaming toggle and the default data line setting first. If it still does not work, try toggling airplane mode, then message us with the phone model and the values you entered.
If the partner network changes, do I need to set a new APN?+
It depends on the case. If we notify you of a changed value, set it according to the new value given. If nothing has been notified and the internet still works normally, there is no need to touch anything.
Instagram and TikTok have no web share button, so we open your phone's share sheet or copy the link instead.
