There is Wi-Fi in the terminal and, because the passenger numbers are modest, it is often quicker than you would expect at an airport this size, though the registration page is still there. Flights do not arrive in dense banks, so the crowded moments are short and pass quickly. The limitation here is not speed but geography. As soon as you head out along the fjord road or climb towards the interior you are in country with no public network at all, and leaning on accommodation Wi-Fi means you are only online once you have already arrived somewhere.

The run from the airport into town is very short by taxi or a pre-arranged car, and Akureyri itself is walkable with even coverage throughout. Daily use tends to stay low because the phone spends time offline, but you will use it hard in short bursts when you come back into coverage, uploading photos and checking whether the next section of road is still open.
