Landing at Singapore Changi Airport

What SIN is like

Changi is several terminals joined by an internal train and walkways; changing terminal takes time but is clearly signed. A large share of the people passing through never enter the city at all and only connect. Mobile coverage reaches every terminal, the inter-terminal train included.

On arrival

Enable the line before you fly as usual. On a connection here, immediate data lets you check gate and boarding time while still walking, rather than stopping at a board or joining a Wi-Fi network.

How far the airport Wi-Fi gets you

Airport Wi-Fi is available throughout and works well, but still puts a sign-in step in front of you. On a short connection where you are walking between terminals, your own line is faster because you never have to stop.

Getting into town

The metro links the airport to the city with signal in stations and on board, and taxis and app cars have clearly marked pickup points on the arrivals level. The run into town is short and predictable.

What people ask about this airport

• Connection time versus walking time: Changing terminals by the internal train takes real time; check your onward gate the moment you land rather than halfway through.
• Singapore and Malaysia are separate: If you are crossing overland to Johor Bahru, look at a plan covering both countries or a regional one.
