Does the map really work in the medina, and why does my position drift?+
You usually have signal, but narrow lanes with high walls throw positioning off by tens of metres, so the blue dot can sit a lane or two away from you. What works better is pinning your riad in advance, learning the name of the nearest city gate, and photographing the riad's doorway — signs inside a medina are small and often absent. Asking at an open shop is frequently faster than chasing the map.
Will I be reachable overnight at a desert camp near Merzouga?+
Merzouga village itself usually has service, but once you ride or drive out into the dunes it mostly disappears. Some camps run satellite Wi-Fi that is slow and shared by everyone staying that night. Message home while you are still in the village, download the next day's maps and tickets first, and charge everything — power points at a desert camp are limited and often only live for part of the evening.
What is the signal like on the Al Boraq high-speed train?+
The Tangier–Casablanca line runs through a well-populated corridor, so service is usable for most of the journey with short interruptions when the train is at speed across open ground or in a tunnel. If you plan to work on board, download what you need before boarding and assume a video call will not be smooth throughout. Screenshot your ticket as well, so the inspector's round does not depend on a connection.
When does a Morocco eSIM start counting days?+
Most plans here start when the phone first connects to a network at the destination, so you can install in advance at home and switch it on after landing. Each plan page states its own rule.
Do I have to remove my home SIM?+
No. The eSIM is a second line, so you keep your home number for SMS OTP. Turn off roaming data on the home line and set the eSIM as the data line.
