한눈에 보기
- UK immigration usually asks why you are visiting, where you are staying, for how long, who you are seeing and how you are paying; answer truthfully and keep bookings on your phone.
- Paper landing cards were abolished in 2019, so there is no immigration form to fill in on the plane or at the airport.
- Thai passport holders cannot use the ePassport eGates and must see a Border Force officer, and meat and dairy products from Thailand may not be brought into the UK.
Border Force officers check your passport and visa status, then ask short questions: why you are visiting, where you are staying, for how long, who you are seeing, when you leave and how you are paying. Thai passport holders cannot use the eGates, so you queue to see an officer. Answer briefly and truthfully, and keep your confirmations ready to open.

Do you fill in a landing card?
No. Paper landing cards were abolished in 2019, so there is nothing to complete on the plane. What you need is the passport linked to your eVisa in your UKVI account and bookings you can open quickly, because officers may check your fingerprints against your eVisa.

What happens at Border Force?
- 1Follow signs to border controlAt Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Manchester (MAN) or your arrival airport, join the non-UK, non-eGates queue.
- 2Prepare passport and papersHold your passport and open accommodation and return plans on your phone, or carry a paper backup.
- 3Answer the officerKeep answers short and consistent with your visa application.
- 4Collect bags and go through customsUse the red channel if you have something to declare and the green channel if not.
| Common question | What the officer wants to know | 준비해 두어야 할 것 |
|---|---|---|
| Why are you visiting? | Purpose matches your visa | A short itinerary |
| Where will you stay? | A clear address | Hotel confirmation or host address |
| How long, and when do you leave? | Plans fit the visa | Return or onward 요금제 |
| Who are you visiting? | Relationship and address | Invitation letter or contact number |
| How are you paying for the trip? | Enough funds | The cards or cash you carry |
Queues for non-UK passports can be long when several long-haul flights land together, so avoid booking a connecting flight or train too tightly. Be ready for a fingerprint check at the desk, and keep your phone charged because you may need to show a booking or your eVisa status.

Why can't Thais use the eGates?
GOV.UK limits the ePassport gates for other nationalities to Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and the USA, plus Registered Traveller members. Thailand is not on that list, so Thai travellers use the staffed desks. Allow extra time when connecting to a domestic flight.

What food, meat, dairy and cash can you bring?
Thailand are not allowed, with exceptions for powdered infant milk, infant food and special medical food. Plants, seeds and some fruit and vegetables are also restricted, so check GOV.UK before packing snacks.을 포함한 Defra states that personal imports of meat and meat products, and of milk and dairy products, from non-EU개국
- Snacks with pork or chicken, sausages, dried shredded pork and ordinary milk powder are examples to be careful with.
- If unsure, leave it behind or declare it at the red channel.
- Large amounts of cash must be declared above the HMRC threshold, and travelling family members count together.
What if the officer asks more questions?
Sometimes an officer asks follow-up questions or to see supporting papers such as accommodation, a return ticket or proof of funds. This is routine and does not mean something is wrong. Stay calm, answer only what is asked, do not guess, and ask for a question to be repeated if you do not understand. Your answers should match what you told the visa application centre and UKVI, and nobody else should answer for you.
What should you prepare before you reach the desk?
- The same passport that is linked to your eVisa in the UKVI account.
- Your accommodation address and the host's phone number.
- A return or onward ticket with clear dates.
- Backup proof of funds, such as a card that works in the UK.
- Files saved on your phone so you do not depend on a connection.
After border control comes customs. Use the green nothing-to-declare channel only if your goods are within the allowances. If they are over, or you are unsure, declare online in advance or at the red point or channel on arrival. Choosing the wrong channel is the traveller's responsibility, so read the HMRC page on banned and restricted goods before you pack.
How does internet access help at UK arrival?
Accommodation, onward tickets and your eVisa in the UKVI account are quick to open on a phone with a signal, so save screenshots and PDFs beforehand and do not depend on a queue connection. Airports have Wi-Fi, but your own data lets you call a ride, open maps and message family on arrival. UK networks include EE, O2, Vodafone and Three, and phones need 4G or 5G because 3G has been switched off.
