eSIM plans for Middle East

Several Middle Eastern cities have solid 5G, but some countries restrict app-based calling. That is a national rule, not a limitation of the plan, so read the country page before you count on video calls.

Regional plan or country plans in the Middle East

For Thai travellers the Middle East is often a stopover, Dubai, Doha or Istanbul on the way to Europe, as well as a destination in its own right. Our supplier sells several regional lists for the area, and they differ in ways that matter. When we checked on 10 October 2026, the Middle East list covered 11 countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan and Turkey, but not Egypt. A Middle East and North Africa list added Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. Two Gulf lists of six countries each also differed: one included Oman, the other included Iraq instead.

For a stopover of a day or two, a small country plan for the hub is usually enough and cheaper than any regional plan. A regional plan earns its place on a longer trip that crosses borders, for example Jordan with the UAE, or Oman with the UAE. If Egypt is on the route, choose a list that names it.

Entry basics for Thai passport holders in the Middle East

Entry rules below are for Thai ordinary passports. They are summaries of the official pages linked in each line; rules change without much notice, so confirm on the official site before you pay for flights.

Gotchas to know before a trip to the Middle East

  • Some messaging apps restrict voice and video calls in parts of the Gulf, while text messages usually work. Check before relying on app calls for work or family contact.
  • A stopover visa or entry permit is separate from your onward flight. If you leave the airport in Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, check the entry rule for Thai passports on the official portal linked above.
  • Summer heat in the Gulf is extreme, and outdoor plans move to evenings. Phones overheat and throttle in the sun, so keep them shaded and carry a power bank.
  • Ramadan changes opening hours for restaurants, shops and attractions. Dates move each year with the lunar calendar; check the tourism board of the country you are visiting.
  • Desert and wadi trips in Oman and Jordan leave coverage quickly. Download maps and keep the driver's or guide's number before setting out.

FAQ

Questions about eSIM in Middle East

How does a Middle East regional plan differ from a country plan?+

A regional plan uses one profile across the countries on its list, so you never swap eSIMs mid-trip. You usually pay a higher price per gigabyte for that. If the whole trip sits in one country, the country plan is normally better value.

Why do some Middle East countries have no plan yet?+

We track 14 countries here and sell for the 9 where a supplier actually has inventory. We do not publish empty pages for the rest just to catch searches.

Are the listed networks guaranteed?+

No. They are the networks a plan may attach to under the supplier's roaming agreements. What you actually get depends on your device, your location and how busy the network is.

Does the Middle East plan cover Egypt?+

The 11-country Middle East list we checked on 10 October 2026 did not include Egypt. The Middle East and North Africa list did.

Is a regional plan worth it for a Dubai stopover?+

Usually not. For one or two days in one country, a small UAE plan is the simpler and cheaper choice.

Is Turkey part of the Middle East plan?+

The Middle East list we checked included Turkey, and some Europe lists include it too. A Turkey-only trip is usually best on the Turkey plan.

Where do I check Saudi or Qatar entry rules?+

Use the official tourism and visa pages for each country, Visit Saudi and Visit Qatar, listed in the sources below, and avoid agency look-alike sites.
