When you land
Hazrat Shahjalal International in Dhaka (DAC) is the main gateway, with Shah Amanat in Chattogram (CGP) and Osmani in Sylhet (ZYL). Overland crossings from India run through Benapole–Petrapole, Akhaura and Burimari. Enable the line on the aircraft — immigration queues at Dhaka are long and someone is usually waiting for you outside.
Where coverage changes
Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and the towns along the main highways are well covered. It thins in the Sundarbans mangroves, on long river-launch crossings, in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and across the Sylhet haor wetlands where villages become islands in the flood season.

Do I need a Bangladeshi number to use bKash?+
Mobile wallets in Bangladesh are tied to a local number and local identity documents, so short-stay visitors usually cannot open one and should carry cash and a card instead. A data-only eSIM has no number for SMS anyway; use it for ride-hailing, maps and chat, and pay in cash or by card.
What is the fastest way to get around Dhaka?+
In rush hour an app-booked motorbike is usually much faster than a car, and booking through Pathao or Uber makes the price clear instead of negotiating on the street. All of it needs data to match a driver and follow the route. Check the travel time in maps before you leave the hotel — a few kilometres can take over an hour.
Will data work on a Sundarbans boat trip?+
Leaving Khulna or Mongla you keep service for a while, but once the boat is deep in the mangroves it goes for a day at a time. Tell family or the office in advance when you will be unreachable, download the documents and maps you need, and charge everything before boarding — sockets on board are limited.
