South Korea eSIM for 30 days: living there for a month

A month in Korea is not a long holiday but a stretch of settled life with a routine, a fixed address and accounts to run, which changes how you think about data.

South Korea eSIM for 30 days: living there for a month

Quick answer

  • About 31 GB a month at normal use, but long stayers usually have home Wi-Fi, so the 20 GB plan valid 30 days is often enough. If you work on the eSIM, look at 50 GB.
  • The catch: a 30-day plan ends right on day 30, so if you stay longer you need a follow-on plan, and stay rules should be checked with official sources.

How much data 30 days in South Korea takes

Level of useRoughly per dayTotal for 30 days
Light: maps, chat, email0.4GB14GB
Normal: social, photos, short video0.9GB31GB
Heavy: streaming, video calls, hotspot1.9GB65GB

Daily use times the days, plus 15 percent for app updates and photo backup. An estimate, not a measurement of your phone.

South Korea eSIM for 30 days: living there for a month

Thirty days in Korea is daily life, not a trip

Thais staying a month in Korea usually have a clear reason: working remotely from Seoul or Busan, studying Korean at a language institute, a short internship, or staying with family. Each case has one main address, often with its own Wi-Fi, so the eSIM becomes the backup and the on-the-move connection, not the all-day main line.

Where data goes on a long stay

  • Video calls and cloud work: if you work on the eSIM, an hour on video is heavy, and big uploads belong on Wi-Fi.
  • Daily life: maps, taxi calls, food orders and translation are small uses but daily.
  • Weekend trips out of town: short outings to Jeju or the coast are your heaviest data days.

Which plan fits thirty days

Our fixed Korea plans valid 30 days come in 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB and 50 GB. If your home has Wi-Fi, 10 to 20 GB is enough, because the 31 GB figure is for people leaning on the eSIM. If you work mainly on the eSIM or have no regular Wi-Fi, 50 GB is the only option near the need; the 65 GB heavy figure exceeds it.

Daily plans are a poor fit for a full thirty days because you pay every day, but they work well as a top-up for the weeks you travel and need more, without buying a bigger monthly plan.

Things to sort out for a long stay in Korea

  • The eSIM has no Korean number, and many delivery and local banking apps need a domestic one. If you need that, check local number sign-up rules with official sources or your institution.
  • Long-stay housing such as goshiwon rooms or dorms often has Wi-Fi of varying quality; ask before booking.
  • Visa, stay and work rules change; check only with the Korean embassy and official websites.
  • Plan the renewal: buy the next plan a few days before day 30.
Do not treat the eSIM as a replacement for home Wi-Fi on work that needs stability, such as key meetings or big uploads. Use it as backup.

Your first month in Korea, week by week

Week one uses the most data, as you set up apps and learn the routes to your home, institute or workplace. Weeks two and three settle in: map use falls and Wi-Fi takes more of the load. The last week often brings a farewell trip, gift shopping and packing, which lifts use again. Thinking in weeks shows that a monthly plan need not be as large as the 31 GB normal estimate.

Bottom line for thirty days

Our estimates are 14 GB light, 31 GB normal and 65 GB heavy. Long stayers with home Wi-Fi usually land near light, so 10 or 20 GB can do. Those working on the eSIM should look at 50 GB and set a usage alert.

FAQ

Is 50 GB enough for a month of remote work from Seoul?+

With home or coworking Wi-Fi, 50 GB is plenty. Working all day on the eSIM with video meetings can come close to the limit, so track use weekly.

Which size for a month of Korean language study?+

Most class time runs on institute and housing Wi-Fi, so 10 to 20 GB usually covers maps, translation and weekend outings.

What do I do about the eSIM if I stay beyond 30 days?+

The fixed plan ends on day 30, so buy a new one before then, and check your right to stay with official sources.
