Landing at Don Mueang International Airport
Bangkok's low-cost airport is smaller and quicker to walk, but the ride into the city is the part where you genuinely need data.
Set the line up before you fly, as anywhere else; it registers by itself once airplane mode goes off. If you are connecting onward domestically here, having data from the moment you land lets you check your onward gate without hunting for a board.

What DMK is like
Don Mueang handles low-cost flights both domestic and international, keeps the two in clearly separate buildings, and involves far less walking than Suvarnabhumi. Most people here are either connecting onward inside Thailand or heading straight into the city. Mobile coverage reaches the whole terminal.
On arrival
Set the line up before you fly, as anywhere else; it registers by itself once airplane mode goes off. If you are connecting onward domestically here, having data from the moment you land lets you check your onward gate without hunting for a board.
Where on the way you need your own data
- Land
- Immigration
- Baggage
- Wi-Fi with a sign-in or limits
- Leave the building
- Train or bus to town
- Hotel
Airport Wi-Fi only helps while you are inside, and usually behind a sign-in page. The rest of the way to your hotel needs your own data. Install an eSIM before you fly and switch it on at landing.
See Thailand plansHow far the airport Wi-Fi gets you
Public Wi-Fi exists in the terminal but slows in proportion to how many flights have just landed. Your own line stays steadier when you need to book a car or check in for an onward flight.
Getting into town
Don Mueang sits north of the city, with a commuter rail line and buses into town and a taxi rank on the arrivals level. Traffic on the main road in and out is heavy morning and evening, so the train is the more predictable of the two.
What people ask about this airport
- Check which airport your ticket says: Bangkok has two airports with clearly different codes, and crossing between them takes an hour at minimum.
- Domestic connections: Some connections here mean moving from one building to the other, so leave time and use your data to check the gate before you start walking.

Getting online at DMK
Does a Thailand plan cover both Bangkok airports?+
Yes. The plan is tied to the country, not to an airport: the same networks serve Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi and everywhere else in Thailand.
Do I need a second plan for a flight on to Chiang Mai or Phuket?+
No. A Thailand plan covers every province, the onward destination included; the same line simply keeps working when you land there.
