How much data you actually need
A normal trip uses around 600MB to 1.5GB a day for maps, restaurant bookings and beach photos. If you work remotely from the apartment or join video calls daily, budget more like 2–3GB a day, and add extra if a second device shares your hotspot.
When you land
The island's only airport is Queen Beatrix International (AUA), a few minutes from Oranjestad. Every passenger completes the Aruba ED Card online before travelling, and on the way home flights to the United States clear American immigration inside this terminal, so allow extra time at check-in. Turn the line on as soon as you land to call a taxi or confirm the rental-car pickup.
Where coverage changes
The island is small enough that coverage follows the whole western shore, from Oranjestad up through Eagle Beach and Palm Beach, and down to San Nicolas in the south. Where it genuinely thins is inside Arikok National Park, along the windswept north coast around Noord, and on the four-wheel-drive track out to the Natural Pool at Conchi, which is usually without service for the whole approach.

Can I use a Netherlands or Europe plan in Aruba?+
Generally no. Aruba is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, but for mobile purposes it is a separate destination from Europe, and almost no European plan reaches it. Choose a plan that names Aruba directly, or a regional plan that lists Aruba among its covered territories, and read that list once more before you pay.
Is there ride-hailing like Uber in Aruba?+
There is no app-based ride-hailing on the island. You move around by metered-free fixed-rate taxi, by the public bus that runs along the west coast, or by rental car, which is the practical choice if you want to explore the eastern side. Most people call or message a taxi from their hotel, so save the number of any driver you liked and message them directly next time.
When do I fill in the ED Card, and can I do it on my own data?+
It has to be done before you travel; the form opens a few days ahead of the flight. The safest habit is to complete it at home or at your departure airport rather than after landing, because a problem with it costs you time at the border. If something does need correcting once you arrive, having the eSIM already active means you can open the site straight away instead of hunting for airport Wi-Fi.
When does a Aruba eSIM start counting days?+
Most plans here start when the phone first connects to a network at the destination, so you can install in advance at home and switch it on after landing. Each plan page states its own rule.
Do I have to remove my home SIM?+
No. The eSIM is a second line, so you keep your home number for SMS OTP. Turn off roaming data on the home line and set the eSIM as the data line.
