How much data you actually need
Around 500MB to 1GB a day for messaging, maps and photos. If you upload underwater clips every evening or share a hotspot with the rest of your group, budget closer to 2GB a day.
When you land
The main gateway is Maurice Bishop International (GND) in the south, only a short drive from Grand Anse beach, while Carriacou has the Lauriston airstrip (CRU) for light aircraft. The other link is the Osprey Lines fast ferry from the Carenage in St George's up to Hillsborough and Petite Martinique. Cruise ships dock right in the middle of the capital.
Where coverage changes
St George's, Grand Anse and the towns along the coast road have continuous service. It thins inside the Grand Etang forest, on the walk to the Seven Sisters waterfalls, at the northern tip around Levera, and on the ferry crossing to Carriacou, where losing signal for the middle half of the trip is normal.

FAQ
Can I get around Grenada by bus?+
Yes. Numbered route minibuses leave from the terminal on Melville Street in St George's, and the route down to Grand Anse is the one visitors use most. Fares are cheap and departures are frequent during the day, but service thins right down in the evening and on Sundays, so if you are coming back late, arrange a taxi driver beforehand instead.
Is Carriacou open to visitors again?+
Carriacou and Petite Martinique were hit hard by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 and rebuilding is still under way, with guesthouses and restaurants reopening at different times rather than all at once. Contact your accommodation directly to confirm it is actually operating, and reconfirm the ferry with the operator, because the sailing schedule was adjusted after the storm.
How much time should I leave between the ferry and my flight home?+
Leave at least half a day, and if you can, spend the last night on the main island before flying. Inter-island sailings are cancelled when the swell is up and the light aircraft carry very few passengers, so stacking the crossing and the flight into one day is a real risk of missing your seat, particularly during the storm season from June to November.
When does a Grenada eSIM start counting days?+
Most plans here start when the phone first connects to a network at the destination, so you can install in advance at home and switch it on after landing. Each plan page states its own rule.
Do I have to remove my home SIM?+
No. The eSIM is a second line, so you keep your home number for SMS OTP. Turn off roaming data on the home line and set the eSIM as the data line.
