The gateway is Amata Kabua International (MAJ) on Majuro, a stop on the Island Hopper route that links Honolulu and Guam through several island calls, with regional flights from Nauru and Tarawa on some days. Kwajalein has Bucholz airfield (KWA), but it is a US Army installation with strict access rules. Outer atolls are reached on domestic flights with unpredictable schedules and on government field-trip ships that sail in rounds.

Usable service is concentrated in the Delap-Uliga-Djarrit district of Majuro, where the offices, shops and hotels are, and on densely populated Ebeye at Kwajalein. Driving out along the strip toward the western end and the airport, it becomes patchy. Outer atolls such as Arno, Jaluit, Likiep and Wotje should be treated as having no connection, and neither do the multi-day boat journeys that reach them.
