Most visitors use the internet sparingly here — messages, email and checking flight times — leaning on hotel Wi-Fi in Majuro rather than a constant mobile connection. Prepare maps, tickets and documents offline, and expect anything heavy such as video calls or large uploads to be slow or impractical.
Nach der Landung
The gateway is Amata Kabua International (MAJ) on Majuro, a stop on the Island Hopper route that links Honolulu and Guam through several island calls, with regional flights from Nauru and Tarawa on some days. Kwajalein has Bucholz airfield (KWA), but it is a US Army installation with strict access rules. Outer atolls are reached on domestic flights with unpredictable schedules and on government field-trip ships that sail in rounds.
Wo sich die Abdeckung ändert
Usable service is concentrated in the Delap-Uliga-Djarrit district of Majuro, where the offices, shops and hotels are, and on densely populated Ebeye at Kwajalein. Driving out along the strip toward the western end and the airport, it becomes patchy. Outer atolls such as Arno, Jaluit, Likiep and Wotje should be treated as having no connection, and neither do the multi-day boat journeys that reach them.
Städte, nach denen Reisende fragen
- Majuro: The capital atoll, with one road running the length of the island strip.
- Delap: Majuro's government quarter, with the main offices and shops.
- Ebeye: A small island at Kwajalein and one of the most densely settled in the Pacific.
- Arno: Atoll near Majuro reached by boat, with village life and quiet beaches.
- Jaluit: Southern atoll with colonial and wartime traces, and very limited services.
Apps, die vor dem Abflug zu installieren sind
- Google Maps with the Majuro strip downloaded in advance
- Facebook and Messenger, where lodges and dive shops answer fastest
- An airline app to track the Island Hopper, which runs only a few days a week
- An email app that syncs when there is signal and stays readable offline

Häufige Fragen
Do you sell a plan for the Marshall Islands?+
Not at the moment — this destination is not in our plan list, so please do not plan on buying one from us to use in Majuro. The realistic options are to ask your existing provider about roaming, rely on hotel Wi-Fi, and prepare everything offline. For the parts of the journey that pass through Guam, Hawaii or another destination, plans for those places cover those legs as normal.
How much slack should I leave around the Island Hopper flight?+
More than you think. The route makes several island calls, each with a real turnaround on the ground, so a delay at one stop accumulates along the whole line, and the flight does not operate daily — miss it and the wait can be days. Build in a night on Majuro before any international connection, and keep your booking reference and the airline's number readable on the phone without a connection.
What should I arrange before diving or visiting historic sites?+
Contact operators well before you leave home, because replies can take days and some sites need permission from a community or an authority before you visit. Save the confirmation email, the contact name and the meeting point offline, check access conditions with the official bodies before you travel, and leave spare days in the plan, since sea conditions and boat availability change without much notice.
