AIS SIM2Fly vs GO Travel SIM: which travel SIM suits your trip abroad
A head-to-head of AIS SIM2Fly and the True and dtac GO Travel SIM: SIM formats, zones, registration, the 60-day rule, where to buy and top-ups.

Kurz erklärt
- AIS SIM2Fly and True's GO Travel SIM (now covering dtac too) are both prepaid SIMs with a number separate from your own, and customers of any Thai network can buy them.
- Both need Thai ID registration and must be used abroad within 60 days of opening. The differences are in pack structure, zones, and calls and SMS terms.
- If you only need data and want to skip the ID steps, a data-only travel eSIM can be the simpler pick.
This guide compares two products using what AIS and True publish on their own pages as of October 2026, not a test trip. Prices and packs change often, so no prices are quoted; check the current pack in each operator's app.

What the two SIMs are
AIS SIM2Fly is a roaming SIM for travel abroad, sold as an eSIM and as a physical SIM. It is a separate AIS prepaid number; you keep it by topping up and can add packs for later trips.
GO Travel SIM is True's roaming SIM, sold to both True and dtac customers because dtac's old GO INTER pages now redirect to GO Travel. It comes as a physical SIM and an eSIM. GO Travel MyPlan is the eSIM where you choose countries, days and data, and it is a separate TrueMove H prepaid number.

Side-by-side table

| Registrierung | Thai ID card for self-registration | MyPlan: emailed link, face scan and Thai ID, then a QR |
| 60-day rule | After opening, use abroad within 60 days or the bundled pack is lost | Use abroad within 60 days of scanning the QR (MyPlan) |
| How days count | From the first data connection abroad | 24-hour cycles from the first connection abroad (MyPlan) |
| Calls and SMS | Ultimate tiers include calls and SMS | MyPlan bundles no calls or SMS |

Zones and coverage model
SIM2Fly is organised as country packs, Asia & Australia packs and worldwide packs. The Japan pack names Softbank, KDDI, NTT DOCOMO and Rakuten, and the China pack covers Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, described as working with all apps and no setup.
GO Travel SIM works by Asia & Australia and worldwide zones, and MyPlan lets you pick the countries yourself. If your route does not fit a ready-made pack on one side, see whether MyPlan or a SIM2Fly country pack matches it better.

Registration and activation
- SIM2Fly eSIM: install by QR or automatically in myAIS, with a Thai ID card for self-registration. You can open it in Thailand or abroad.
- MyPlan: open the emailed link, complete the face scan and Thai ID check, receive the QR and install it. Days start counting at the first connection abroad.
- The registration steps for the physical GO Travel SIM could not be confirmed from the pages read; check with True before you buy.
Number, top-up and where to buy
Both give you a new number, and neither is your original one. SIM2Fly keeps its number if you top up, and you can add packs for later trips. MyPlan states that the number is suspended after 180 days without a top-up and that speed drops to 128 Kbps once the quota is used.
For the SIM2Fly eSIM start with myAIS and AIS's SIM2Fly page; for the physical SIM check that page for sales points. GO Travel SIM has buy links for True and dtac customers on True's GO Travel page, and MyPlan is sold through True's online store. AIS's call centre is +66 2 078 9000 and True's is 1242.
One calling detail on the SIM2Fly side: calls on Docomo, KDDI, AT&T or Verizon need AIS HD Voice (VoLTE) switched on.
Who each suits
- SIM2Fly suits people who want a wider range: country packs, Ultimate tiers with calls and SMS, in-flight use or the 365-day annual SIM.
- GO Travel MyPlan suits people who want to choose countries, days and data themselves on a multi-country trip and do not need calls on this number.
- Anyone who needs calls and SMS on their original Thai number throughout the trip may be better served by a roaming pack on that number than by either SIM.
When a data-only eSIM is simpler
If you only need data for maps, chat apps and ride bookings, a foreign travel eSIM skips the Thai-carrier ID steps and can be bought online close to departure. The trade-off is no phone number, so keep your Thai SIM for bank OTP messages. This website sells eSIMs too, so compare other sellers as well.
