eSIM plans for Oceania

Oceania has genuinely remote stretches where coverage drops even on plans that claim national coverage. Download offline maps before leaving town, and prefer a plan you can top up mid-trip.

Regional plan or country plans in Oceania

Most Thai trips to Oceania are to Australia, New Zealand, or both, and that is where our regional options sit. When we checked on 10 October 2026, the plan sold for the region was an Australia and New Zealand plan covering the two countries. Our supplier also lists a wider Oceania package that adds Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Vanuatu and Samoa, but it was not on sale on this site at the time of checking, so the Oceania regional page may show no plan.

For a trip to one country, the country plan is the straightforward choice. For a trip that covers both Australia and New Zealand, compare the Australia and New Zealand plan against two country plans for the same days. For Fiji, use its own plan page.

Distances matter here as much as borders. Both countries have strong coverage in cities and along main highways, but large rural and outback areas have none at all. The networks publish coverage maps, and checking a road-trip route against them is worth the time.

Entry basics for Thai passport holders in Oceania

Entry rules below are for Thai ordinary passports. They are summaries of the official pages linked in each line; rules change without much notice, so confirm on the official site before you pay for flights.

Gotchas to know before a trip to Oceania

  • Both Australia and New Zealand require visas for Thai passport holders, and both have strict biosecurity checks at the airport. Declare food, plant and animal products on the arrival card; undeclared items can lead to fines.
  • A transit stop through New Zealand or Australia also has its own rules; check the official visa page for transit before booking a connection there.
  • Outback roads, national parks and New Zealand's mountain passes can go hours without signal. Download offline maps and tell someone your route.
  • Seasons run opposite to Thailand's calendar: December to February is summer and July is winter. Check the Bureau of Meteorology or MetService for the region you will visit.
  • A data-only eSIM has no local number. If you need one for a job, a rental or a bank account, a local SIM from a network shop is the usual route.

FAQ

Questions about eSIM in Oceania

How does a Oceania regional plan differ from a country plan?+

A regional plan uses one profile across the countries on its list, so you never swap eSIMs mid-trip. You usually pay a higher price per gigabyte for that. If the whole trip sits in one country, the country plan is normally better value.

Why do some Oceania countries have no plan yet?+

We track 20 countries here and sell for the 10 where a supplier actually has inventory. We do not publish empty pages for the rest just to catch searches.

Are the listed networks guaranteed?+

No. They are the networks a plan may attach to under the supplier's roaming agreements. What you actually get depends on your device, your location and how busy the network is.

Is there a plan for the Pacific islands as a group?+

Not on this site when we checked on 10 October 2026. Our supplier lists a wider Oceania package, but it was not on sale here; Fiji has its own plan page.

Do Thais need a visa for Australia?+

Yes. The usual visa for a holiday is the Visitor visa (subclass 600), applied for through the Department of Home Affairs, linked above.

Will my plan work on a New Zealand road trip?+

In towns and on main roads, usually yes. Mountain passes and remote areas often have no signal, so prepare offline maps.

When is the Australia and New Zealand plan worth it?+

When the trip covers both countries. Compare it with two country plans for the same number of days on the plan pages.
