What Bratislava is like on a phone

Bratislava is a compact Danube capital whose old town can be walked in a few hours, and it sits close enough to Vienna that many people do the pair in one day. Visitors are travellers pausing on a Central European trip, castle-on-the-bluff sightseers, and people using it as an affordable base for seeing two countries. Bratislava Airport (BTS) is close in, a short ride by city bus or taxi, but a great many travellers fly into Vienna (VIE) and take a cross-border coach to the central bus terminal in about an hour. The alternatives are international trains into the main station or Petržalka, and river boats in the season they run. • The Little Carpathians and the forest trails — Wooded hills that start at the edge of town and are quick to reach, though the further you walk from the road the thinner it gets in patches.
