A typical visitor uses about 500MB–1.5GB a day, with maps open, constant messaging to drivers and hosts, and Arabic translation in regular use. Filming and uploading each evening takes it to around 2GB a day.

Al aterrizar

There is no working commercial airport in the West Bank, so most travellers fly into Ben Gurion (TLV) and continue by road, or fly into Queen Alia in Amman (AMM) and cross the land border at the Allenby / King Hussein Bridge into Jericho. Either way, allow generous time for entry procedures, which can take hours. Gaza, whose crossings are Erez and Rafah, is not open for tourist travel.

Dónde cambia la cobertura

In the towns — Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus, Hebron — service is available throughout. What is worth knowing is that Palestinian operators have long been limited in the spectrum available to them, so speeds are often slower than you are used to, and in many parts of the West Bank a handset may attach to an Israeli network instead. It thins out in the Jordan Valley to the east, in the desert around the Dead Sea, and in hill villages reached by rough roads.

Ciudades sobre las que preguntan los viajeros

  • Bethlehem: Pilgrimage town near Jerusalem, extremely busy around Christmas.
  • Ramallah: Administrative and business hub with the densest cafes and lodging.
  • Nablus: Old city in a valley, known for knafeh and its covered market.
  • Hebron: Large southern city; walking the old town involves several checkpoints.
  • Jericho: Jordan Valley town, very hot, close to the Allenby Bridge crossing.

Apps para instalar antes de volar

  • WhatsApp, the main channel guesthouses, guides and drivers use
  • Google Maps or Waze for road routes that can change day to day
  • Google Translate with the offline Arabic pack

Preguntas frecuentes

How long does it take to travel between West Bank towns?+

The distances are short but the timing is unpredictable, because it depends on checkpoints and on the route the driver takes that day. A trip that normally takes forty minutes can take two hours. What residents do is ask a driver or their host by message before leaving, so keep the schedule loose, avoid stacking appointments, and leave a wide margin on any day you have to be back for a flight.

Why is data slower in the West Bank than I expected?+

Palestinian operators have long been restricted in the spectrum they are allowed to use, so the network sits behind those of neighbouring countries. In practice messaging, maps and ordinary browsing are fine, but uploading high-resolution video or holding a long video call can stutter. Download maps and important documents ahead of time, and save the bandwidth-heavy work for the guesthouse Wi-Fi in the evening.

Can I travel into Gaza as a visitor?+

Not as a tourist. The Erez and Rafah crossings are not open for visitors, and access is limited to specifically authorised cases such as humanitarian or media work, which goes through the relevant authorities rather than any ordinary booking. Anyone planning travel in this region should read their own government's current advice first and check it again close to departure, because the situation can change quickly.

How should I sort out data for this trip?+

Before buying, read the coverage list on the plan page and confirm it names the areas you will actually be in, since a single day here can take you across more than one. Install the eSIM and download your offline maps while you are still on Wi-Fi at home or at your departure airport, then activate it on arrival. If you are not sure which plan suits your route, ask us on LINE at https://lin.ee/skDPoNx or by email at esimonline.asia@gmail.com.
