常见问题

Once throttled, can the speed go back to normal?+

Normally speed returns when you add more full-speed allowance, or when a new cycle begins on plans that work in cycles. This varies by supplier and by plan type; some have no renewal at all and can only be replaced with a fresh purchase. Check the detail page of the plan you hold, and if it is unclear, ask support with your order reference to hand.

Why did my speed drop while the allowance is still there?+

Several things besides contractual throttling can cause it. One is network priority: a visiting user usually sits behind that network's own customers. Two is coverage where you happen to be standing. Three is background activity on the phone using the connection. Move location, turn off automatic updates, and check consumption through the supplier's channel before concluding anything.

Is the remaining speed enough for maps and messaging?+

It depends on where that plan's remaining ceiling sits, and those differ widely. Text messaging moves very little data and usually keeps working. Maps often remain usable but load slowly and can stall when you move into a new area. The safe approach is to download offline maps for your destination while on Wi-Fi, and to read the plan's stated figure before buying.

Why does the phone's counter disagree with the supplier's figure?+

Because they count differently. The handset counts what passes through that line as the operating system sees it, and it usually resets on a cycle you set yourself. The supplier counts from the network side by their own method. Small differences are normal. When the two disagree, treat the supplier's figure as authoritative, since that is the one that determines whether you have hit the threshold.

Should I buy a bigger allowance or a plan whose throttled speed is still usable?+

Decide from what you will actually do. If the trip involves video calls, uploading work or regular streaming, a larger full-speed allowance is worth it every time, because throttled speeds are not designed for heavy tasks. If you only need maps, messaging and email, a cheaper plan whose tail end runs slower is often the sensible choice. Estimate your own use first, then pick.

Can a supplier change this figure after I have bought?+

Service terms belong to each supplier and can change in the ways their own conditions allow, which is why we do not warrant any supplier's speed figures on their behalf. What you can do is keep the record of what you bought — the confirmation email and the details shown at checkout. If what you receive differs from what was stated, contact us with the order reference so it can be looked into.
