When the bars are full but nothing loads, the network your phone picked is usually the problem.

Stuck on the wrong network: fixing it by selecting manually

Quick answer

  • Full bars with no data usually means the phone attached to an operator the plan does not cover; select one from the list in your confirmation instead.
  • After selecting, allow up to two minutes: registration on a new network is not instant.

A phone normally picks the strongest network automatically, but a roaming plan is tied to specific agreements. Attach to an operator outside that list and you get full bars with nothing loading.

Confirm the symptom first

  • Bars and an operator name are shown but nothing opens
  • Data roaming is already on for the travel profile
  • The operator name does not match the list in your order confirmation

Selecting a network manually

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings and choose Cellular
  2. Select the travel plan, then Network Selection
  3. Turn Automatic off and pick an operator from the plan's list

On Android

  1. Open Settings and go to the mobile network for the travel profile
  2. Open Network operators and switch off automatic selection
  3. Let the scan finish, then choose an operator from the plan's list
Some phones list numeric codes instead of names: the first group is the country code and the second the operator. Match them against the country's operator list before choosing.

If manual selection still fails

  1. Set it back to automatic and toggle airplane mode once
  2. Restart the phone, which forces the whole registration to start again
  3. If it still fails, contact us with the order number and the operator name you can see

FAQ

Does manual selection drain the battery faster?+

Not by itself. It costs battery when you leave that operator's area and the phone keeps searching, so switch back to automatic when moving between cities.

Several operators appear. Which one?+

Start with the list in your confirmation email. If more than one is listed, try them one at a time and wait two minutes each.
