eSIM installed but no signal: how to fix it

Quick answer

  • Toggle airplane mode for ten seconds — the single most effective fix.
  • Confirm data roaming is on for the eSIM line.
  • If it still fails, select the network manually instead of automatically.

Work through in order

  1. Toggle airplane mode
  2. Check the eSIM line is enabled
  3. Enable data roaming on the eSIM line
  4. Set the eSIM as the data line
  5. Restart the phone
  6. Select a network manually from those listed on your plan page

How to select a network manually

On iPhone: Cellular → the eSIM line → Network Selection, turn Automatic off and pick from the list. On Android the same option sits under that line's mobile network menu. The scan can take up to a minute.

If you have just landed, give it five minutes — some networks take a while to register a new device.
