常见问题

Do all travel eSIM plans allow hotspot sharing?+

No. The condition is set by each plan's supplier under its agreement with the local network: some allow it outright, some cap it, some do not permit it. Read the conditions on the plan page before buying, and if the page is silent and sharing matters to your trip, ask us on LINE at https://lin.ee/skDPoNx before you pay.

Why did my data disappear so fast after connecting a laptop?+

Because the laptop treats the connection as ordinary Wi-Fi and immediately starts its background work: checking for system updates, syncing cloud files, backing up photos. All of it happens quietly and can use more data than your own activity does. The fix is to finish updates while on Wi-Fi, then mark the connection as metered on the receiving device.

What is the difference between USB tethering and a Wi-Fi hotspot?+

Both carry the same traffic from the same data pool; they differ in battery use and convenience. Tethering over a cable usually costs the phone less battery, since in many cases the laptop feeds power back, and it tends to be steadier where Wi-Fi is congested. A Wi-Fi hotspot suits you better when several devices need to join, or when someone is sitting further away.

A device joined the hotspot but nothing loads. What should I do?+

Check the sharing phone first: try loading a page on the phone itself with no Wi-Fi attached. If the phone cannot browse either, the mobile connection is the problem — confirm the right line is carrying data, enable roaming on it and restart. If the phone is fine but the other device is not, cycle the hotspot off and on, and have the device forget the network and rejoin.

Can I share a hotspot with a friend using a different brand of phone?+

Yes, because the link is standard Wi-Fi that ordinary devices already support, whatever operating system they run. What differs is the name and location of the settings menu on the phone doing the broadcasting, which depends on the manufacturer and OS version — check that model's own guidance if you cannot find it.

What happens if the plan forbids sharing and I leave the hotspot on by accident?+

The outcome follows each supplier's own terms, and can range from nothing at all to the connection being restricted or stopped. We cannot say in advance which it will be for every plan. The advice is to switch the hotspot off as soon as you realise, and if the connection has trouble afterwards, contact us on LINE with an honest account of what happened so we can check with the supplier.
