Ejemplo: quedan muchos datos

Cuántos datos necesitas realmente
Around 500MB–1.5GB a day covers maps, WhatsApp, work email and translation. If you take video calls or tether a laptop on a business trip, budget nearer 2GB a day and schedule big uploads for Malabo or Bata.
Al aterrizar
The main gateways are Malabo on Bioko (SSG) and Bata on the mainland (BSG), with Mongomeyén airport serving Mongomo and the new capital at Ciudad de la Paz. Between island and mainland there are both domestic flights and a passenger ferry linking Malabo and Bata. Get the line attached inside the terminal, because document checks sometimes mean calling your host or hotel to confirm arrangements on the spot.
Dónde cambia la cobertura
Malabo and Bata work normally, as do the coastal roads immediately around them. It thins noticeably up on the Moka highlands in the middle of Bioko, down at the Ureca beaches in the island's south where turtles nest, inside Monte Alén National Park on the mainland, and out on distant Annobón island. Download maps and any documents you may need before leaving the city each time.
Ciudades sobre las que preguntan los viajeros
- Malabo: Island capital on Bioko, with colonial-era buildings and a working port.
- Bata: Largest mainland city, with a long seafront promenade and busy markets.
- Moka: Highland village in the middle of Bioko; cool and often in cloud.
- Luba: Small port town in southern Bioko and the way towards the south-coast beaches.
- Monte Alén National Park: Mainland rainforest; you need a guide and an offline plan.

Preguntas frecuentes
Can I manage without Spanish?+
You can, but it is harder than people expect. Spanish is the main official language and is what officials, hotels and shops use almost everywhere. French and Portuguese are also official but far less common day to day, and English really only appears around the energy companies. Download the offline Spanish pack and prepare the phrases you will need about accommodation and transport ahead of time.
Are there rules about taking photos?+
Take this seriously. Government buildings, the presidential palace, military sites, the airport, the port and checkpoints should not be photographed at all, and raising a phone near them can lead to your device being inspected. The safe habit is to ask a local contact or your host first every time, and to ask permission directly before photographing people.
How do I get from Malabo to Bata?+
Two ways: a short domestic flight, or the passenger ferry across the bight, which takes much longer and depends on sea conditions. Most people fly, but schedules can move, so reconfirm with the airline or your agent on the day and always leave slack before an international departure. Remember you are crossing between an island and the mainland, not moving around within one place.
