How to check your EID number (iPhone and Android)
What an EID is, where to find it on your phone, how to copy it, when you actually need it, and how it differs from an IMEI. Written as steps you can follow right away.

Kurz erklärt
- On iPhone, go to Settings > General > About and scroll down to EID; touch and hold to copy it. A second method that works on both iPhone and Android is to open the dialler and enter *#06#, which shows the device identity numbers and usually the EID if the phone has an eSIM chip.
- An EID is a 32-digit number and is not the same as an IMEI. For our eSIMs, QR installation does not require an EID; if you are unsure, check your order first.
What an EID is, in one paragraph
EID stands for Embedded Identity Document. It is the identifier of the eSIM chip built into the phone, a bit like the serial number of that chip. Every eSIM-capable device has its own unique EID. This page focuses on finding and using it; the full definition lives on our EID glossary page.

How do I find the EID on iPhone?
On an eSIM-capable iPhone the most direct way is the Settings app, and it takes under a minute. Menu names can differ slightly by language and iOS version.
- 1Open Settings > GeneralOpen the Settings app, then tap General.
- 2Tap AboutTap About near the top of the General screen.
- 3Scroll down to EIDScroll down until you see the EID entry, a long 32-digit number. In some versions it sits near the cellular line or IMEI entries.
- 4Touch and hold to copyTouch and hold the EID number and choose Copy, then paste it into a note or message to check that every digit came across.
If you do not see an EID entry, the phone may not have an eSIM chip, for example a much older model or one sold only in some markets. Try our device checker to confirm the model.
How do I see the EID with the *#06# code?
This is the standard dial code for showing device identity numbers. Open the phone app, go to the keypad, and enter *#06# without pressing call. The identity numbers appear immediately.
- 1Open the keypadOpen the Phone app and go to the keypad.
- 2Enter *#06#Type *#06# exactly as shown. Do not press the call button; an information window appears by itself.
- 3Find the EID in the listLook through the numbers shown. You will see the IMEI and, if the phone has an eSIM, usually the EID as well, a 32-digit number.
- 4Write it down or take a screenshotSome phones will not let you copy from this window, so take a screenshot and type the number carefully from it.

How do I find the EID in Android settings?
Android has no single menu that fits every brand. Menu names and positions differ by manufacturer and Android version. Start from the About phone section and look for SIM status information.
| Was zu versuchen ist | Typischer Pfad |
|---|---|
| Main route | Settings > About phone > Status (or SIM status), then look for EID or device identity numbers. |
| If the menu is nested deeper | Try Settings > About phone > Device information or General information, then open the IMEI or EID related entry. |
| If you cannot find it | Use the search box in Settings and type EID or IMEI, or use the *#06# code from the previous section. |
Beispiel-Menüpfade bei Android
If your Android phone shows no EID at all, either the phone has no eSIM chip or the manufacturer hides this information. Check the model against the eSIM-compatible device list first.
When do you actually need your EID?
Most people never need it, because an eSIM installed by scanning a QR code or tapping to install does not ask for this number. Some providers may request an EID to bind the eSIM profile to your device before they issue it. That depends on the individual provider.
- Some providers ask for an EID when you order or request the eSIM profile. Check that provider's own instructions.
- When you contact support about an eSIM profile that is already installed, the agent may ask for the EID to identify the device.
- When you want to confirm the phone really has eSIM hardware. If the phone can show an EID, that is a good sign.

How is an EID different from an IMEI and other numbers?
These numbers often appear close together, so they are easy to mix up. Each identifies a different thing, and entering the wrong one is a common reason a provider's device check fails.
| Nummer | Was sie identifiziert | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| EID | The eSIM chip in the phone | A 32-digit number |
| IMEI | The phone handset's radio hardware | Typically 15 digits; dual-SIM phones have two |
| ICCID | A SIM card or an installed eSIM profile | A long number of around 19 to 20 digits |
| Serial number | The device as a whole | A mix of letters and digits |

How careful should I be with my EID?
An EID is not a password, and someone knowing the number cannot reach your data directly. It does identify your device, though, so do not post it publicly. Share it only with the provider or support team you are actually dealing with.
- Do not post a screenshot showing your EID on social media or in public groups.
- Check the website address and the recipient each time before you send your EID to anyone.
- Copy with touch-and-hold rather than typing it by hand, to avoid a dropped or swapped digit.
What if the EID will not show, or the provider rejects it?
- 1Check the modelConfirm that your model and its market version support eSIM, using the device checker or the manufacturer's information page.
- 2System aktualisierenInstall the latest iOS or Android update and look again, since some older versions show incomplete information.
- 3Copy the whole number againIf it is rejected, copy the EID again in full and check that it has 32 digits with no stray space or line break.
- 4Contact the providerIf it still fails, contact the provider that asked for the EID. For an order with us, you can reach our team in Thai, English or Chinese.
