Clearing out old eSIM profiles: when and how
Deleting at the wrong moment is unrecoverable, so here is the safe order.

Quick answer
- Delete only profiles that have expired with no data left: the action is usually irreversible.
- Before wiping or selling a device, review every profile: a factory reset can remove ones you could still use.
Deleting a profile is not like removing a card, because you cannot put it back. Most QRs install once, so deletion should be a deliberate decision rather than casual tidying.

Three checks before deleting
- The plan has actually expired, not merely run out of data
- No usable top-up remains attached to it
- It is not still set as the default line for data or messaging
Never delete a profile as a fix for no signal: it destroys the remaining options. Toggle airplane mode, try manual selection and restart first.

Before a factory reset or selling
- Check whether any profile is still usable and contact the provider before wiping
- Remove all profiles before handing the device on, so activation data does not travel with it
- If the device is broken and unreachable, tell the provider that a profile remains on it

Tidying without deleting
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Disable the profile | It stays and can be re-enabled; no battery cost |
| Rename it as expired | Reduces the chance of enabling it by mistake |
| Delete the profile | Irreversible in most cases |
FAQ
Can I ask for a replacement QR after deleting?+
It depends on the provider and the plan's state. If it was never used, contact us with the order number and we will check, though it is not guaranteed.
Do old profiles slow the phone down?+
No. The impact is menu clutter and mis-selection, not performance.
