Ejemplo: quedan muchos datos
4.1 GB restante
Usado 5.9 GB
Total 10 GB
41% restante
Ejemplo: queda poco
0.8 GB restante
Usado 9.2 GB
Total 10 GB
8% restante
Cuántos datos necesitas realmente
Plan without assuming data through the day. Work from offline maps and documents saved to the device, and agree fixed check-in windows with people at home instead of expecting to be continuously reachable while you are in the country.
Al aterrizar
Asmara International (ASM) is the main gateway and sees only a handful of flights a week, with Massawa (MSW) and Assab (ASA) as the other airports. By sea, the port of Massawa is where boats leave for the Dahlak archipelago. Land borders open and close depending on the regional situation, so check with an embassy or your operator beforehand, and carry every document as a paper copy.
Dónde cambia la cobertura
In practice you should treat connectivity in Eritrea as limited everywhere. Asmara has the most options but they are neither fast nor consistent, and once you head out towards Keren, Massawa, the Qohaito plateau, the Dahlak islands or the Danakil in the south, assume there is nothing at all. Save maps, tickets and your travel permit to the device and carry printed copies of all of them as well.
Ciudades sobre las que preguntan los viajeros
- Asmara: Highland capital, World Heritage listed for its modernist architecture.
- Massawa: Red Sea port, hot and humid, with old buildings scarred by war.
- Keren: Northern hill town with a weekly market drawing people from across the region.
- Dahlak Archipelago: Red Sea islands reached by boat from Massawa; entirely self-sufficient travel.
Apps para instalar antes de volar
- An offline map app such as Maps.me or OsmAnd, downloaded before you travel
- An offline phrasebook with Tigrinya vocabulary saved to the device
- An offline document folder holding your travel permit and every ticket

Preguntas frecuentes
Can I buy an eSIM for Eritrea from eSIMonline?+
No. We do not offer a plan for Eritrea, and this page is travel context only. Plan the trip on the basis that you will not have your own data while you are in the country. If your route continues into other countries, message us on LINE at https://lin.ee/skDPoNx or email esimonline.asia@gmail.com and we can tell you what exists for those next destinations instead.
Do I really need a permit to leave Asmara?+
Yes. Travel beyond the Asmara area requires a permit arranged in advance, and it is a paper document you show at checkpoints along the road, not something you file online. Ask your operator or your hotel to start the process on your first day, allow several days for it, and photograph the permit so you also have a copy on the phone.
What should I prepare before entering the country?+
Make everything work offline. Download maps of Asmara and the road down to Massawa, save your accommodation address, contact numbers and every ticket to the device, and carry printed copies of the important documents. Bring enough cash, since foreign cards are of very limited use, and agree with people at home that you will check in periodically rather than daily.
