A family sharing a hotspot with several tablets should budget several times what a solo traveller does. Turning automatic photo sync off during the day and back on at the hotel is the single most effective control.

• The Walt Disney World resort area — A very large area laced with internal shuttles; the signal is good, but open your ticket and the park map before joining a queue, because reloading in peak crowds is slow.
• Universal and International Drive — A main strip lined with hotels and restaurants that stays usable, apart from the early evening when everybody calls a car back at once.
• Downtown Orlando and Lake Eola — The real city where locals live, on a much less crowded network than the resort side and comfortable even on a long weekend.
• Kissimmee and the Highway 192 strip — A long spread of holiday homes and cheaper hotels; the line works, but a villa set deep inside a subdivision can be weaker than the main road outside it.

Day trips out of the city

• Kennedy Space Center — The run to the coast is connected, but the reserve around the launch pads thins out, and on a launch day the crowd alone drags speeds down. Launch schedules slip constantly — go by the official notices on the day.
• Tampa and the Gulf beaches — The cross-peninsula highway is continuous, and the long bay bridges weaken briefly without really dropping; the Gulf shoreline itself is fine along most of its length.
• The Everglades and the inland wetlands — The long straight roads through the sawgrass include places where the signal genuinely goes rather than merely slows; download offline maps and note the boat times before you leave town.
