为就医而出行,网络该怎么准备
这类行程需要稳定可预期的联络,无论是和家里还是和医院。

快速解答
- Keep documents and contacts openable offline, and allow more data than an ordinary holiday.
- Keep a route by which people at home can reach you: retain the home SIM for calls alongside the data plan.

Should I also get a local number?+
It depends on how the facility contacts you. If they genuinely need an in-country number, ask them how firm that requirement is and check that country's SIM registration rules from an official source, since some require identity documents. In many cases keeping the home number for calls alongside a data plan is enough, and simpler, because nobody has to be told a new number.
Is an unlimited plan a good fit here?+
It can be, if you will video call often and do not want to keep counting. Check the plan's full-speed terms first, though: many carry a daily or per-cycle full-speed cap, and past it the quality may not hold up for video. Ask the supplier for the exact terms of the specific plan before buying.
What if the stay runs past the plan I bought?+
If the plan supports top-ups, top up before the allowance runs out — transacting while you still have data is much easier. If it does not, buy a new plan for the remaining days and check that the phone still has a free profile slot. Do not delete the old profile until you are sure nothing usable is left on it.
How do I keep medical documents on the phone safely?+
Use a strong device passcode, leave the system's default encryption on, keep the files in an app that requires authentication to open if your phone offers that, and avoid sending documents over public Wi-Fi — switch to your own data if something has to go out. This is general security practice, not legal or medical advice.
I am travelling alone and worried about being unreachable. What helps?+
Three things help most. Agree a clear check-in time with home so silence is not misread. Put emergency information and contacts on the lock screen where someone else can see them without unlocking. And carry a charged power bank, because on these trips a communication problem ends in a flat battery more often than in no coverage.
How much more data should I allow than for a normal holiday?+
We do not give a fixed figure, because real use varies enormously with habits, call length and the Wi-Fi you happen to find. What we can suggest is estimating from the video calls you intend to make, adding the waiting time that always runs longer than expected, and then choosing a plan that can be topped up so it can follow the situation. Our data calculator gives a starting point, but it is an estimate rather than a guarantee.

Is an unlimited plan the right call?+
Possibly, if you will call by video often and do not want to count. Check the full-speed cap first: past it, video-call quality may not hold up.
Do I need a local number?+
It depends how the facility contacts you. If a local number is required, ask them first and check that country's SIM registration rules officially.
