Does data-only mean you cannot call anyone at all?+
No. App-based calling through LINE, WhatsApp, FaceTime and similar still works normally. What does not work is only the traditional call over the mobile network that dials a phone number directly.
If the original line stays on, are roaming charges incurred?+
That depends on your original Thai carrier's own terms, not something the travel eSIM plan controls. Check directly with your original carrier.
Why do most travel plans not include Voice/SMS at all?+
Because they are designed around internet access as the core need, and skipping a local number keeps purchase and installation quicker. Some suppliers do offer Voice/SMS in certain countries — check that plan's own page directly.
Does internet-calling use much data?+
The data used depends on the app and the video quality chosen. We do not assert an exact figure across every app or device, since it genuinely varies by setup.
Does the original line need to be switched off before installing the eSIM?+
No. Most phones that support dual SIM or dual eSIM can run both lines at once. Set which line carries data and which carries SMS separately instead.
