It is best to turn on data roaming for the eSIM line first, then toggle airplane mode, since if data roaming was off to begin with, toggling airplane mode alone will still show a network name while leaving data unusable.

One or two attempts, each leaving the full fifteen-second interval, is usually enough to tell whether it is helping. If two full attempts still show nothing, move on to checking data roaming and the APN instead of repeating the toggle over and over.

The speed of searching for and registering with a network varies by device model and each brand's own radio chip. We do not assert an exact figure for every model, but it generally should not take much more than around a minute after airplane mode is switched off.

For an on-purchase plan it makes no difference, since the clock has already been running from the moment the profile was issued. For a first-connection plan, toggling airplane mode itself is not what starts the clock — the successful connection that follows afterwards is what starts it.

Toggling airplane mode always affects both lines at once — there is no way to toggle it for the eSIM line alone. What needs checking separately is which line is set as the primary data line.
