My phone is a few years old — can it still use an eSIM?+
Age is not what decides it — the presence of an eSIM chip is. Dial *#06# and look for an EID line. If it is there, the handset is ready and only the carrier-lock question remains. If there is no EID and no add-cellular-plan menu, that phone cannot use an eSIM, and no update will change that.
I bought a second-hand phone — how do I know it is a supporting variant?+
Do not go by the model name alone, since different market variants share it. Switch the phone on, dial *#06# and see whether an EID appears, then open the cellular settings and look for an add-eSIM option. Those two checks answer it from the handset itself. If you have not bought yet, ask the seller for a screenshot of what *#06# returns.
Can I install an eSIM on a phone issued by my employer?+
It depends on the policy your IT team has applied. A fair number of corporate handsets are configured to hide the add-profile menu or to block new lines, even though the chip is present. If the menu will not open, or says it is restricted by an administrator, ask your IT team first — the restriction sits on the device, not on the plan.
Will my existing Thai number keep working after I install an eSIM?+
Yes, as long as the handset supports two active lines. Your existing SIM keeps taking calls and SMS as usual. What has to be set correctly is choosing the eSIM as the mobile data line and leaving data roaming off on the home line, so you do not run up roaming charges from your own operator by accident.
The phone supports eSIM but the install still fails — what causes that?+
In rough order of frequency: an unstable connection during installation, a VPN left switched on, a carrier lock, or a QR that has already been used once. Get onto stable Wi-Fi, turn the VPN off and try once more. If it still fails, do not delete anything — send us the error text along with your order number.
I carry two phones — can one plan be swapped between them?+
Generally no, because the profile is issued to the chip in the phone it was first installed on. If you need data on both at once, the straightforward route is running a hotspot from the phone holding the eSIM and connecting the second device to it — checking before purchase that the plan you choose allows hotspot sharing.
