No. Time spent in airplane mode has no effect on the profile's integrity. The expiry date itself depends on the plan type: an on-purchase plan's clock runs from issuance regardless of flight length, while a first-connection plan's clock has not started until it successfully attaches.
Can in-flight Wi-Fi be used instead of the plan if I do not want to wait until arrival?+
Yes, if the airline offers it, but it is an entirely separate service from the plan, with the airline's own terms and its own cost, unrelated to what was purchased.
If the profile was forgotten before boarding and there is no airport Wi-Fi, what should be done?+
