eSIM plans for Americas

Distances in the Americas make trips longer than travellers expect, and driving between cities burns more data than staying in one. If the plan is a road trip across states or borders, size up and check whether the plan permits hotspot sharing.

Regional plan or country plans in the Americas

The Americas cover very long distances, and most Thai trips focus on one country: the United States, Canada, or a single South American country. Our supplier's regional lists reflect that. When we checked on 10 October 2026, the North America list covered Canada, Mexico and the United States, and a separate list covered only the United States and Canada. South American lists ranged from six countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay) to a larger list that also included Central American countries. A Caribbean list covered island nations and some South American mainland countries.

For a single-country trip, the country plan is the simple choice. A regional plan helps when you combine the United States with Canada, add Mexico, or travel overland through several South American countries. Because South American lists differ widely, match every country on your route to the list before paying.

Entry basics for Thai passport holders in the Americas

Entry rules below are for Thai ordinary passports. They are summaries of the official pages linked in each line; rules change without much notice, so confirm on the official site before you pay for flights.

  • United States: Thailand is not in the Visa Waiver Program, so a B1/B2 visitor visa from the US Embassy in Bangkok is needed, and interview waits can run for months. https://th.usembassy.gov/visas/
  • Canada: Thai passport holders need a visitor visa; apply only through the Government of Canada's immigration site (canada.ca) and allow several weeks.
  • Peru and Argentina: check the current visitor rule for Thai passports with each country's migration authority before booking: https://www.gob.pe/migraciones and https://www.argentina.gob.ar/interior/migraciones
  • Anywhere else on this page: check the country's embassy in Bangkok or its official e-visa portal, starting from the Thai Department of Consular Affairs. https://consular.mfa.go.th

Gotchas to know before a trip to the Americas

  • A US visa interview is the longest lead time on most Americas trips. Check the US Embassy in Bangkok for current waits before you fix dates.
  • Transit counts. A connection through a US airport needs US entry permission even if you never leave the airport, so routes to South America via the US need a US visa.
  • National parks in the US and Canada, Patagonia and the Andes have long stretches with no signal. Download offline maps and trail information before leaving town.
  • Cruise and ferry legs, common in the Caribbean and Alaska, may switch phones to a ship's satellite network that is billed separately. Turn off roaming to it unless you plan to pay for it.
  • The time difference from Thailand is large. Install and test the eSIM at home, where you can still contact support during Thai hours.

FAQ

Questions about eSIM in Americas

How does a Americas regional plan differ from a country plan?+

A regional plan uses one profile across the countries on its list, so you never swap eSIMs mid-trip. You usually pay a higher price per gigabyte for that. If the whole trip sits in one country, the country plan is normally better value.

Why do some Americas countries have no plan yet?+

We track 54 countries here and sell for the 49 where a supplier actually has inventory. We do not publish empty pages for the rest just to catch searches.

Are the listed networks guaranteed?+

No. They are the networks a plan may attach to under the supplier's roaming agreements. What you actually get depends on your device, your location and how busy the network is.

Does the North America plan include Mexico?+

The North America list we checked on 10 October 2026 covered Canada, Mexico and the United States. The USA and Canada plan does not include Mexico.

Do I need a US visa just to change planes?+

The United States has no airside transit without entry, so Thai passport holders connecting there need US entry permission. Check the US Embassy in Bangkok, linked above.

Which South America plan should I pick?+

The one whose country list includes every stop. The smaller list covers Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay; a bigger list adds more countries, including Central America.

Is a Caribbean cruise covered by a Caribbean plan?+

On land in the listed countries, yes. At sea the phone may join the ship's own network, which is not part of the plan.
